Before starting with the lesson, me and my partner Francesco will welcome you as we use to do here: with a good coffee and a homemade cake. After a short visit to our home, to be sure that you can feel it as yours, we will start with the class: you will learn not a simple "know how", but something deeper, a way to discover this area, its history and stories that always accompany the reason of a tradition. The typical shapes of this area are two (Sicily is big and with a long history so every territory has its specific recepies!I will show you some...) and we will prepare "maccarruna" and "tagghiarini" only with our hands from the kneading to the shape, using the traditional way. We'll can use either the garden or the kitchen, and we will have a break waiting for the lunch, with our bread and some other goodies from our kitchen. When you will be satisfied enough of your pasta, we will look for ingredients in the vegetable garden, in order to prepare the sauces. We'll cook and have our lunch all together, drinking some good local wine. We will say goodbay only after a sweet moment with a homemade sicilian dessert.

I'm a 36 years old girl come back in sicily, my homeland, after some years spents travelling and searching for differents ways of life. Here, I live with my partner Francesco in his old family's country home, in the Madonie park, recovering the abandoned soil and the ancient knowledges about agricolture. I've worked for long time in restaurants and refuges as cook and I produced fresh handmade's pasta for sale, in the little bio market of north Italy. I've to thanks my grand mother for having taught me since I was a child, our old local cook way.

You will spend a day in our life, at our home, walking in the garden, touching the story of this place, transformed by four generation's life. We will share the precious ability to create something of good not only for stomach;) a knowledge that here, in my land, is a lively part of folk culture.

The cooking class will take place at my home "Casa del Vento" where it's also possible to spend the night (according to the availability). The home is close to the A19 highway exit (only 15 minutes!) and the road from there it's so beautufil, going across the olive's groves all around.
