You will gather together in Gwen's Federal farmhouse kitchen. As you each stir up a batch of proper English scones, we will learn about the differences of an English scone and an American scone or biscuit. As the scones are baking you might enjoy a walk around the charming gardens snipping some herbs or flowers from the cutting garden for the tea table or pick some raspberries or rose buds. When the tea house bell rings all the guests return from their wanderings and help to set the table, picking out your tea cup from the collection in the tall sideboard. The guests join together around the table enjoying the simple goodness of fresh baked scones.
I hosted a local TV gardening show, taught cooking and gardening classes at garden clubs, and worked in the hospitality industry for 15 years. I have hosted teas at Bridal showers, Mother's days, and weekly Masterpiece Classic binges with my daughters. I took a scone tasting tour around England. I gallivanted past Downton Abbey's Highclere Castle and shopped at Twinings Tea Store, the oldest tea shop in London. I want to share the simple pleasure and charm of sitting down to tea and scones with you. To create one little moment in your life that you can pretend is perfect!
You will enjoy the scones you made along with Amish butter & homemade jams, NY State cheese, & other locally sourced treats!
You will enjoy a fine tea selection
Ingredients, and items needed for scone baking will be provided. You will use a lovely vintage tea china service.
