We'll meet at the train station and from there we will get a bus to the starting point of the walk. In our walk, you will discover a beautiful swampy area and its two small islands. Along the paths, you will learn about Finnish culture, such as what Finns call a mökki and what does it mean "private space" in Finland. You will also learn a few facts about forests and forest laws and berry and mushroom picking as we venture in the nearby forest areas. Towards the end, we will also go to try out the steam of a Finnish traditional wooden-heated public sauna and take a swim in the Baltic Sea. My aim is to show you how life is here in Helsinki and Finland from a local's perspective and how we relate to nature. Where do we live, what do we do, where do we hang out. You cannot find that in the books. You might also be curious about housing, schooling, nature, wellbeing, sauna culture, taxes, history...etc. I want to involve you in finding the daily life of a helsinkinian! Are you ready to join?
I am a Nature passionate and lover. My whole childhood I enjoyed being in forests, roaming the flower fields or be out catching fish. As a Helsinki resident, walking in the forest, picking mushrooms and berries, camping or just being in nature is part of my daily life. I am also passionate about how people interact with nature and how that interaction shapes culture and environment. For my professional life, I am working to support regenerative agriculture. We can talk a lot around this subject. Last summer I cycled all the way from Finland to Romania, camping and visiting small regenerative farmers on the way.

We will meet at the Central Railway Station. From here we will ride a bus to a natural area where we will explore two small islands by foot. Further, we will continue our adventure in the arboretum belonging to the University of Helsinki. By now we would have walked about 7,5 km (4.7 miles). To round up, you will get the chance to feel the steam of one special sauna in the heart of Helsinki and cool off by dipping in the sea.
最多5人參加，不限年齡。 For sauna check with yourself if you are comfortable with naked people.
If winter, dress accordingly. It can be cold and windy.
It will be a 3-4h walk adding the sauna about 1.5 h, a total of approx 5 hours. Sompasauna is a free mixed-sexes traditional wood-heated sauna by the sea with no shower, changing room, lockers or running water. In the sauna will be naked people as in Finland this is a normal custom in the sauna.
