For over 3 years Contrabarra has been proud of its unique cocktail recipes using Mezcal, now we want to share them with you! We realize that people often shy away from using Mezcal in home made cocktails, but we are here to build your knowledge and give you the skills to be confident enjoying Mezcal at home and in stunning hand-crafted cocktails to impress your friends! Our experience will begin with a short introduction to the origins of Mezcal followed by a tasting session to get your taste buds acquired with the different types of Mezcal and their varying flavors. We will also give you tips on how to pair each type perfectly. Now, you're equipped with all you need to know to start making cocktails! You'll learn how to craft our favorite Mezcal cocktails (featured in the photos) which are made using a variety of techniques. We will first demonstrate and then guide you through how to shake, stir and balance flavors - not to mention make them look beautiful! To top off the experience you'll relax (or party, you choose) at the bar, share some snacks (provided) and enjoy your hand made cocktails. Each person will receive a copy of the cocktail recipes to take home.
I left the lawyer life to open up a bar and a food truck some years ago and it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. I love making people happy with food and drinks, mainly because eating and drinking are my favorite things on earth, they bring people closer together in a way nothing else does. Contrabarra (my bar) and food truck focus on having fresh local ingredients to showcase the best flavors of Mexico and I am proud to show you my culture through this! Your experience will take place in Contrabarra, in Polanco. We are an oasis hidden away under a bridge and because of this we have gained quite a reputation. We host "Stand up under the bridge" a comedy event every second Thursday and Salsa and Cubana nights on Fridays which draw a big local crowd. The space was once an abandoned lot and has since been transformed into a green, vibrant communal place.
