This isn't your typical classroom language lesson- far from it! Let's make this a truly authentic Québec experience. First, we'll meet for a traditional poutine at 'Frites Alors' where you can indulge in our local delicacy while receiving a formal lesson on French-Canadian vernacular- with a special focus on blasphemy! Using my experience as a language teacher, I'll offer insight on semantics (how concepts are expressed through words) and morphology (the study of words and what they mean). As a native French Canadian, I will teach you to pronounce and understand some of the most popular and funniest Québécois expressions. Doing this will allow you to view our culture from a different angle and better relate to why we speak the way we speak. You’ll do fun oral exercises and go home with a document highlighting Quebec lexicons that you can share with your friends. For example: 'en- titi' is an our Quebec way of saying "very". (Il est riche EN TITI (he's VERY rich!). You'll also learn about the antiquity of our language. For example- we still use the word "char" to mean car, (which comes from when we used to travel in "chariots": the two-wheeled horse-drawn vehicle)
BEIN LA!
I have specifically designed this experience because as a world traveler, this is precisely the kind of knowledge I would seek in order to fully immerse myself in the culture.

This experience is a hit and made it front page of the local newspapers: https://www.journaldemontreal.com/2019/07/10/cours-de-sacres-pour-les-touristes-sur-airbnb.
Just read the reviews- well worth the money! Spend an hour with a trilingual graduate of Literature who will baffle you with Québec's language-related history and teach you about 'Joual', our local dialect: where it comes from and how to pronounce our slang. Learn about the state-church's domination, about the Language Police, about our 'sacres', our profanities. Tabarnouche, estique, caline de bine- What does it mean? Where does it come from? Take this one-of-a-kind experience to look at Quebec's famous french language from a historical and cultural perspective. This experience is a must!
