Once you have arrived at our lovely little kitchen in the very heart of Colombo we will start by teaching you how to open a King Coconut for a cooling drink. Since coconut is the foundation of Sri Lankan cooking you will also make your own coconut milk! Thereafter we will move on to cook a number of traditional Sri Lankan curries and accompanying salads. Throughout the class we will tell you all about the various herbs and spices being used as well as where all vegetables come from. When you have finished cooking your Rice and Curry we will head to the dining area and enjoy it all together with some drinks, a traditional dessert and a good conversation!
I am a keen traveller and I am passionate about cooking. When I visit new countries I always try to book a cooking class. It is not only a great way to learn about local food but also to learn about new cultures. I am now happy that I can give that experience to visitors coming to Sri Lanka! At Auntys I have two co-host, Ishani and Udani, both of them are both doing our street food tours and cooking class. We love meeting new people and teach them how to make Sri Lankan rice and curry :) Ishani is a great chefs and in addition to being an expert in Sri Lankan food she is great at baking. Udani has a true passion for traditional cooking and she also loves doggies.
