Join me for a personally guided journey along a trail that's loved by locals, but little known by tourists. We'll walk the 4.25 mile trail along a beautiful wooded creek bordered by thick native foliage to search for treasures from the past. We'll learn about the area's coal mining history and seek out remnants of the past hidden from those unaware of the fascinating stories that haunt this urban outpost. See where President Rutherford Hayes visited, discover a hidden mine shaft and stumble upon relics of once-bustling towns that are being reclaimed by Mother Nature. You'll learn about the plants - the friends and the foes - and taste some along the way. You'll get to take a Forest Bath. These woods are filled with wonder and beauty. You won't forget this true Northwest experience - perfect for all ages. P.S. I have a wonderful, mellow yellow lab Scooby, who is happy to join - if you're looking for a dog fix and would like me to bring him along. Just let me know.

I'll pick you up at a central location on Mercer Island (easily accessible via public transportation) and we'll drive to the Coal Creek and Red Town trails, former home of three now-hidden coal mines. If the weather cooperates, we'll stop at a secret view spot along the way. Because of COVID restrictions, all passengers are required to wear masks inside the car. If you would prefer, you can drive your car to the trail head.
