We are going to walk a lot around the Historic Centre of Mexico City. This walk is ideal for your first day in the city! We will get to know the history and traditions of many of the most famous places such as the Palacio de Bellas Artes, the murals and the cathedral, but we will aso visit less turisty spots like hidden colonial hospitals or traditional candy stores. During the tour we will talk about the conquest, religion, mexica traditions, migration, prostitution, power, wars, poverty, popular religiosity, architecture, art and symbols that have made of Mexico such a great and vibrant city. (Obviously tacos are a must!) Some other stuff: *Let me know if you want to have the experience at a different hour or any special requests. *Take on account this tour might be bilingual, if you want to make sure its only in your language please contact me before booking. *Follow me on Instagram @caminalaciudad
History has always been my passion and I studied it in university, so I know many of the secrets hidden in the buildings and streets of the city. Also, I love meeting people and traveling! So when I can't go somewhere else, I like to explore my own city with local friends or foreigners. That way, I can easily make connections between the indigenous, colonial, 19th century or modern past and the city that we are visiting and looking at. I speak three languages and I have been a high-school teacher, I also have taught from children to elderly people, so I can explain everything easily and adapt the tour to the wants and needs of the group.
¡Two delicious tacos!
We'll have a typical Agua Fresca
Basically, we'll walk through the streets of the historical center and some of its most famous buildings. We will visit the surroundings of the Alameda park, the streets of Madero and Tacuba, the Zócalo, some places of Av. Pino Suárez, the Santo Domingo Plaza, and the Merced neighborhood. There is sooo much to see in the city, so I always try to adapt the places we visit to what the group is the most interested in.
We are going to walk a lot, so it's better to be comfortable and to bring water. At some point we will walk through a very crowded and comercial neighborhood so it's good to bring a backpack to store your valuables.
