I will pick you up at BUS STOP NUMBER 8, next to the big Church, Hallgrímskirkja, downtown Reykjavík. We drive to Hvalfjörður Fjord, where the waterfall is situated. There we hike for about 3 hours. On the way we need to cross a river. The river has a tree trunk over it, and we cross it. The hike from there to the viewpoint is sometimes very steep. The view from the top is amazing and rewarding. Glymur, the waterfall, falls 198 meters and used to be the highest waterfall in Iceland. Due to warming, a new and higher waterfall has appeared. Remember good shoes, proper clothes and your camera! A challenging hike with some high cliffs. Not suited for people afraid of heights!
I am born and raised in Iceland. Living next door to nature it became clear very early that I would become a geologist. There is no better place than peaceful nature. Birdsong in the summer is a plus. I love nature, hiking the wild and Iceland is a paradise for both. I want to take you on a journey to one of the highest waterfalls in Iceland, Glymur. Adventure and destress with me in tranquility, in nature, next door to Reykjavík. A mindful hike close to the capital. My cohost is Stone, who is a landscape photographer and an adventurer. He has biked most trails that exist in Iceland and probably knows Iceland better than most people.
