We meet in the morning to beat the crowds and to be able to experience the Boqueria market at its best. On our way to the market, I will explain all about the history of the famous Ramblas and some of its most impressive sights. The first stop will be at one of the best quality bar in the Boqueria market where we will enjoy some of the tastiest traditional breakfast tapas, what locals call a fork breakfast and a good coffee to wake up. As we walk through the narrow and busy corridors of Barcelona's most historic market, I will explain about its history, the local gastronomic culture and the most unique and remarkable stalls in Boqueria. Imagine learning about some very special local produce like a wide range of cold cuts, some very tasty veggies, spices... We'll then continue our brunch with a helping of iberico ham, Spain's tastiest delicacy. To water it all down, we'll have one of the iconic Boqueria fruit juices (you will be able to choose between sweetened or unsweetened, from the best stall). To finish, we will celebrate at the most emblematic bars not only in Boqueria but in the whole of Barcelona with a glass of cava, Barcelona local yummy sparkling wine (other options available) and, with one of the best-kept secrets of Barcelona, a yummy traditional sweet pastry unlike any other.
We are Xavi & Helena, born and raised in Barcelona, and we would love to show you around! Xavi is a local architect with a passion for food! He keeps a restaurant review blog where he discovers and tries the tastiest restaurants in Barcelona and abroad. He also loves the local market experience in Barcelona. Helena has lived abroad for more than five years, working as a Spanish language instructor in South Korea.
