Bella's scones baking class will last approximately an hour and a half. On arrival, there will be tea and coffee and some cakes/cookies to try which are made fresh in the bakery. Once everyone arrives we will go over some facts on traditional British baking. I’ll tell you a bit about Glasgow and the Hidden Lane then we will go over the recipe and get baking! When the scones are baking there will be time to ask questions about Glasgow and any question you might have about the recipe. I will also have fresh scones with homemade jam for everyone to try. Once the scones are finished there will be boxes for the scones for students to take away with them. After the class, you’ll have a chance to explore The Lane which is filled with artist studios and shops
I am a professional baker and have been baking for over 8 years. I am the founder of a bakery and cooking school. (Bella's Bakery & Cooking School) In the bakery, we make homemade cakes and we teach classes from pizza making to wedding cakes. I am originally from Maine, USA but have lived in Glasgow for 11 years. I am looking to teach small classes to people visiting Glasgow based around traditional British baking such as scones, the Victoria sponge cake, and empire biscuits.
I will also have snacks such as brownies/cookies which we bake in the bakery.
I will provide tea, coffee, and water for the students.
The bakery is based in The Hidden Lane in Glasgow. The Hidden Lane consists of small lanes with quirky buildings were there are other small shops and artist studios.
Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements. If looking for a date for the class that might not be listed, please feel free to ask for availability of other class dates.
