So, we’ll start by meeting in Chinon, an incredibly beautiful medieval town which is just oh so beautiful! Think Chateau, small narrow streets, on a river, central cafes and beautiful boutique shops... then throw in some of the most important historical moments and figures in France’s history- Joan of Arc, Henry Plantagenêt, Eleanor of Aquitaine... This is before we’ve even left town! So leaving town, we’ll ride through local villages and hamlets, with the view of the countryside, the vineyards, the small wine producers which litter the valley, feasting your eyes on the beautiful Loire architecture. We’ll then make a trip to three local wine producers where you can sample their sparkling, rose, white and red wines, each working to the quality label demanded by the Chinon AOC. The region produces 97-98% of their wine with just one grape variety- The Cabernet Franc. The other 2-3% is the Chenin grape for white wine. We’ll also stop off at a beautiful location for a picnic during the tour, sampling local produce from the region created by a friend of mine who is a Boulanger in town- think great baguettes and sweet pastries! During the tour we'll explore the vineyards themselves, you’ll get to find out about the lifecycle of a vine, the importance of wine to the region, the different type of wines produced in Chinon, meet some of the producers as well as visiting their caves.

We’ll visit vineyards by bike, exploring the vines and the caves, as well as meeting the wine producers. This is what a really recent participant said; “We really enjoyed our tailored tour of vineyards by bicycle. Accompanied by our guide we visited four vineyards/cellars which we wouldn’t of known about or found ourselves. An excellent lunch was provided, and the tour even organised to pick up the wine we bought en route. A great day out”.
We holidayed for years in France before gathering up the courage to go into a vineyard. With us, we’ll guide you through the best caves, the best wines and even provide the bike to do so! This experience is designed to be part of your holiday rather than the holiday, and we hope you’ll join us.
