Salem is a wonderful walking city, best seen on foot. We'll 'walk and talk' throughout our tour, visiting about 20 locations depending on the pace and interest of the group. Salem's rich past is much more than just the Witch Trials of 1692. We'll also discuss the Golden Age of Sail and Salem's role in the Revolutionary War. As a resident, I can share local color and stories to help bring Salem alive for you. Our tour is largely historical, but I may sprinkle in a legend or two. The tour length can vary based on interaction and pace, but will generally be about 2 hours. If the time of the tour posted does not work for you, or if you'd like a shorter distance or a more intensive tour of the city with a coffee break in the middle, feel free to drop me a note and I will do my best to accommodate your travel plans. I also do a tour called History and Hauntings with a local, which is not your typical haunted tour.
I am a licensed tour guide who has lived in Salem my entire life. Your tour will always be led by me, and I welcome any questions or discussions along the way that will help enrich the experience for all of us. Although Salem is my home, I am well-traveled and appreciate that vacations should be enjoyable and relaxed.
Our tour will visit about 20 spots depending on the interest and pace of our group, including the Joshua Ward House, Ropes Mansion, the Witch House, the Lyceum Building, Chestnut Street, the Pickering House, and the Witch Trials Memorial. We will not enter any buildings; the tour is entirely outdoors but will give you a good overview of places you may wish to explore further on your own.
Our walking tour is approximately 2 hours and will cover about 2 miles. Sidewalks can be uneven. No 'official' seating or restrooms on tour but there will be places we can stop as needed. We tour in all weather. Traffic and parking can be challenging, please leave plenty of time to arrive.
