Located just three blocks far from Villa de leyva’s central square. Surrounded by a quiet and natural ambiance distinguished for its beautiful and diverse plants. We’ll start preparing some appetizers as pacific flavored mini patacones (thick green plantain), some typical snacks from the eastern plains region and even some mini empanadas worthy representative of the andean region and the central part of the country, after sharing these starters, we’ll prepare the main course, each participant will be able to take an active part in the preparation. Each dish stands out for the use of regional authentic ingredients as andean tubers, biscuits (arepas, envueltos), traditional sausages, all of these accompanied by cultural overviews and our chef own anecdotes of more than ten years of experience in the field, looking for each dish to be a great experience of flavors, colors and unique textures of the colombian cuisine. Then, a refreshing drink with delicious and exotic fruits. We’ll finish this experience with a flourish, a tasting of delicious colombian desserts as cholado and merengon, among others.
I’m Sebastian Nossa, executive chef and founder of Maitri sasson Colombia restaurant located in Villa de Leyva. Entrepreneur since 2008. Cooking is one of my passions, I have always loved fusing traditional flavors with innovative techniques. I worked in prestigious hotels and restaurants for over ten years. I decided to start as a self-employed looking to create a space to recover traditional flavors, improving them and create a unique and illustrative experience that allows my guests to discover the Colombian cuisine typical flavors by trying the grandma’s art of cooking ingredients and customs (smoky flavors, homey seasoning, and commitment) details increasingly scarce. The class will be in the main room of the restaurant Maitri, located in the historic city center, with a quiet ambiance and beautiful plants distinguishing a tree named Brugmansia arborea or borrachero, which is characterized by being almost always in bloom.
They must be willing to learn, get messy as a child but specially have a hearty appetite.
The experience lasts 3.5 hours approximately, it might be longer. The menu is designed with regional authentic ingredients, meat, fish and seafood, among others. It’s necessary to inform about seafood, pig meat, nut allergies or gluten intolerance…etc, in order to modify the menu.
