When you come to my studio you will be welcomed into my studio and offered a cup of tea or a glass of wine. We will look at the art in the studio and get comfortable. Once we get settled in we will spend about 1.5 hours creating your masterpiece! In this class we will be working from a still life full of beautiful plants and ceramic sculptures. I will lead you through some fun observational drawing games and techniques, teach you about color mixing and matching and demonstrate watercolor painting techniques. At the end of the class I will give you suggestions on how to transport and frame your artwork. You will also be able to take your masterpiece home at the end of class!
I am a fine artist with 16 years of teaching experience. I have taught classes, workshops and camps for preschool aged children through adult students. In 2018, I opened Arts Beacon, a creative arts studio, to offer classes, commissions, and art consultations in sculpture, ceramics, painting and drawing. I hold a BFA from the Atlanta College of Art (1998) and an MFA from Queens College CUNY (2004) with majors in Sculpture and Drawing. I also completed the 2 year ceramics assistant program at Callanwolde Arts Center (2009) . I have taught college classes at Brenau University and Oglethorpe University, and workshops, camps, and community classes at local community art centers, schools and preschools around Atlanta.
I always have tea or wine available at my studio to help you relax and get comfortable while making art.
We will be at The Beacon development in Grant Park. "The Beacon project reshaped six former industrial buildings into a keystone of nine walkable acres ideal for family fun, date nights or even errand runs. Its 110,000 square feet of restaurants and bars, a coffee shop, a bakery, a gourmet market, retail shopping, daycare, medical and wellness centers and the funky Artist’s Cove create a layered neighborhood experience that will satisfy patrons."
