Typically we’ll set of on foot for a steady-paced run from The White Cliffs Hotel and follow the trails through the stunning North Downs countryside along wooded tracks to the picturesque village of Kingsdown before hitting the clifftop paths and following the coast to stunning St. Margaret’s Bay. Alternatively we’ll climb steadily up to the South Foreland Lighthouse before zigzagging down the cliff face path to Fan Bay. Then it’s up to the White Cliffs National Trust Visitor Centre for a well-earned cup of tea. After a refreshments stop we loop back to St. Margaret’s Bay for an optional dip in the sea ( weather permitting) before climbing back to The White Cliffs Hotel. Here there’s an option to stop and have a bite to eat and a drink or even stay the night at an extra cost of course. Each loop is approximately 10km with 300m elevation and we’ll aim to run at a steady pace to suit all.
I have a background in hospitality, tourism, travel, outdoor pursuits and adventure. Extensively working in the great outdoors as a Mountain Leader, I’m no stranger to working in challenging environments. From the heights of the Alps I moved back to the White Cliffs where I now spend a great deal of time running, swimming and cycling along the coast and in the countryside. I’m a Trained Mountain Leader, Experienced Ultramarathon Runner, Channel Swimmer and Endurance Road Cyclist.
The experience takes place in the Kent Downs a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You’ll have the opportunity to run along the coastline, get off the beaten track and let your imagination loose amongst the rolling green fields and cliffs of the North Downs. St. Margaret’s Bay is a secluded hidden cove, a perfect spot to see the White Cliffs of Dover from sea level.
