Most travelers come to Nepal to trek. As others venture out, we will turn “inward”, journeying into the heart of Nepal’s cultural and spiritual landscapes to learn how its ancient wisdom and artistic traditions remain insightful for today’s modern world. You’ll be led by a friendly duo of American and Nepali colleagues, who’ve been professionally guiding in the region during the last three decades. As a small group, we will have in-depth access to scholars, spiritual leaders, artisans, and musicians; we will live and share meals with local families; and we will reflect on life’s truths at Hindu temples and Buddhist monasteries. If you’re seeking to expand your appreciation of Nepali culture and traditions, we would love to have you join us. Course dates: March 8-20 and October 11-23, 2020
My long-time friend and colleague, Suren Thami, and I began guiding in Nepal during the late 90’s while working for the educational travel company, Where There Be Dragons. Suren’s Nepali heritage spans multiple regions of the Himalayas, and he’s worked as a trek leader, school principal, interpreter, a member of Nepal's United Nations, and a documentary filmmaker. I lived in the Kathmandu valley for 14 years, and frequently return to continue guiding experiences with Suren that incorporate yoga, meditation, spiritual traditions, religion, and more. Together, we look forward to connecting small groups of well-intentioned travelers to the artistic traditions, spiritual practices, people and places that make Nepal such a captivating space for inspiration.
