The Bucharest Slow Food Tour will give you a wide introduction about Romanian food heritage that has been kept alive and kicking with the help of traditional knowledge. As a buffer country between the East and the West, Romania has developed so many dishes with flavor and spice influences from our border neighbors, or invaders. We start with trying out some very unique pastries in one of the oldest bakeries in town, then have a quick stop at a farmer's market for whatever is seasonal and fresh (fruit or veggies). Now the unconventional part of the experience begins- a food truck, a deli-shop for locals and a very special slow-food eatery with organic dishes, craft beer, amazing wine and historic recipes. After this we walk some more through a beautiful inter-war period neighborhood, just to make room for dessert. This is the last UMAMI moment of our tour, so I'll keep it a surprise!
I am a slow-foodie and a digital freak in the jungle of Bucharest, this vibrant city of contrasts. After studying and working in six countries in Europe, I have developed an interest in cuisine, authentic tastes and local experiences. Food has always been a catalyst of community and culture, so I have designed a few food-tours that will awaken not only your taste-buds, but also your hunger for exploring unique stories about a city through flavor and taste. The constant rise of young local producers and farmers will give you an insight of history and culture through some of the most authentic off the beaten path eateries in my beloved city. Rolling back to your apartment? That is my mission, so you better come on an empty stomach! See you in a bit!
Romanian communist snacks, pastry, bread-spreads, cold and warm cuts, veggies and fruit, home-made cakes.
1. The pastry shop is a tiny place you would pass by unnoticed as a tourist, where everything is done from scratch, from the dough to the fillings after some secret traditional recipes. 2. The daily farmers market has loads of fresh fruit and veggies 3. The food truck is a place of "flavor and freedom" as the owner calls it. 4. The deli-store is like a fairy-tale house and so are 5. the slow food restaurant and 6. the bakery in the end.
