We will jump right into action at the heart of Singapore's Central Business District - Raffles Place MRT(or train) Station (exit B), where the red & green MRT lines meet. It's also a minute walk from where the founder of modern Singapore landed 200 years ago, the Singapore river. Join me as we stroll down the historical river, walk on the oldest surviving bridge across the Singapore river, whilst learning about the start of colonial rule and ancient Singapore. Of course, we'll not miss the symbol of Singapore, the Merlion statue, equivalent to symbols around the world such as the New York's statue of Liberty and Paris's Eiffel Tower. Get 'instagrammable' photos tips and enjoy a scenic view of the Singapore City. Yes, how can we not visit one of the world's most busiest arts centre - the Esplanade, where the architecture is nothing you have ever seen! We'll also learn about the World War II, our struggle for independence and how we have grown from a fishing village to a cosmopolitan city through national monuments (how many? a total of 10 national monuments!). Finally, we'll learn about how 10 official religions exist harmoniously on this island as we visit the oldest and largest place of worship for the Anglicans in Singapore. Don't worry, we'll end our walk at City Hall MRT station (also along the red & green MRT lines) / Raffles City, where shopping / food await you.
I am born and raised in the tiny but beautiful tropical island of Singapore! 8 years ago, I found my passion in guiding and started to guide walking tours for both locals and tourists. As a licensed Singapore tourist guide, I will love to share about the history, stories and secrets about this island to you. I promise you the authenticity of facts, wrapped around the untold mysteries of buildings, statues, rivers and sights along our journey.
Umbrella(s) if you are willing to share, just in case.
While you can visit the places on your own, it is a little different with me. Through the 10 national monuments and sights along the walk, get to experience the intriguing tales of old and modern Singapore. Let me show you a Singapore so authentic and so personal, you might think twice about it ending in 2 hours :)
The tour will carry on in rain or shine, whether you are alone or in a group :) Please note that we will be walking for up to 2 hours (approximately 3-5km).
