Whether you're new to 'ukulele or already know a dozen chords we'll present a 90 minute lesson tailored to your experience level. You'll learn to play 'ukulele in Hawaiian Old Style. No 'ukulele? No problem, we can provide 'ukes for up to 6 students. All those attending must pay the participant fee, so why not learn to play? What's next? Once you've completed the session you'll be ready to join any of the kanikapilas (Hawaiian jam sessions) that take place around the Big Island.

My wife and I are both retired educators. As a life-long musician I have played and taught all types of music and instruments. In Hawai'i, my wife and I have embraced Hawaiian music and dance (Hula). My wife and I teach 'ukulele classes at Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park and play with local na kanikapila (Hawaiian jam sessions) at least twice a week as well as performing with 'ukulele ensembles on the island. My wife dances with a hālau hula (hula school) that has presented at the Merrie Monarch Hula Festival, an annual world-wide hula competition that takes place in Hilo, Hawai'i.
Drinks, including water and Hawaiian fruit juices and Hawaiian cookies.
We will provide 'ukuleles for each participant as needed.
You will join us at our home, playing on the lanai with views out over the ocean (kai). Additional times and days may be available. For an additional cost, special arrangements can be made to play right on the beach, enjoying the waves rolling ashore while strumming your 'ukulele under the sighing palm trees. An enchanting Hawaiian experience. Please contact us if you would like to explore these options!
