We'll hike to the highest point in Mexico City "La Cruz del Marqués" at 3,930 m.a.s.l. on the extinct volcano Ajusco where you'll have an impressive 360° view of the valley and all its surrounding volcanoes. During to the whole experience you'll learn about the history of the Valley of Mexico City and its folklore. The itinerary goes as follows: 7:00 am: I will pick you up by car at an agreed meeting point. 8:00 am: We'll arrive at the car park and start our hike. 12:00 pm: Estimated time of arrival to the summit. There'll be more than enough time to drink a hot beverage, have a sandwich and enjoy the scenery! 12:30 pm: We'll start the descent back to the car park. 2:00 pm: Estimated time of arrival at the car park. We can then enjoy some well deserved traditional Mexican food or head back to civilization. 3:00 pm: Estimated time of arrival to the agreed drop off point. Having done this ascent numerous times I recommend the above itinerary, however every person is unique and I'm happy to adjust to everyone's needs and preferences. It is a moderate level hike in high altitude, so the pace may vary. *The experience is also available in Spanish, Portuguese, and German.
Hi! I’m Robert, a Mexico City native. 5 years ago I discovered my passion for the outdoors, and since then have spent every free minute in the mountains. Following a mountaineering course at the Mexican Alpine Club I started conducting expeditions to our local volcanoes as a guide assistant to the Alpine Club and on my own. Deciding to dedicate myself full time to the outdoors took me to Edinburgh, Scotland to study my MSc in Outdoor Education. I have since organized trekking and mountaineering expeditions in England, Scotland, Norway, and Iceland. As well as leading travel education programs in Peru, including trekking expeditions in the Andes. I’m a certified Wilderness First Responder, trained to tend to emergency situations in remote locations. Most recently I was involved in developing an outdoor center in Estado de Mexico.
