A classic, basic, cosy coastal shack experience. Families or pet owners preferred. Only one street from a safe beach and a 5 minute walk from the jetty and tavern. Lots to do for everyone or put your feet up and feel at home. Enclosed rear yard, swings, sandpit, fire pit , rear deck and ocean glimpses.

Safe swimming and pristine beaches. A popular tourist destination with the best fishing spots in SA. Moonta is a few kilometres away and offers Hotels, Crafts, Antiques, 2nd hand stores, Restaurants, Service Stations, shopping, mini golf, tennis courts and more.
The house is comfortable and provides all the things you need on holidays. We keep it simple and uncluttered so you can spread out and enjoy.
Bedroom 1 and 2 have queen size beds and bed room 3 has 4 single beds set up as 2 bunks. The rooms and living area are compact. The house is an older 1960s style besser brick "shack". The plan is to demolish in the near future so some improvements have been put on hold.
Some of the furniture is not from the last 5 years but who wants to feel like they have to be careful around brand new furniture when they are on holidays. Especially if you have your children with you. A self rating would put it at 3 1/2 star.
Most importantly it is clean and provides plenty of outdoor space and things to do for all to enjoy with the added privacy not provided at a caravan park or motel.
Let the kids play in the secure and private rear yard while you enjoy a drink on the deck which captures sea glimpses.

At Port Hughes General Store (500 metres away) you can get hot food, bait, ice, souveniers, newspapers and grocery lines.
The Tavern next door is great for a drink or a meal with a huge salad and veg bar. Bookings recommended at peak times.
Fishing is VERY popular at Port Hughes off the jetty, in your boat or book a fishing charter.
FOR THE KIDS because if the kids are happy, then Mum and Dad are happy
Brand new playground to the south of the jetty.
Beach access nearby the playground allows you to explore the rock pools and look for sand crabs
Take a dip in one of the best beaches around, pristine clean sand
A cliff top walking path (in front of Dowling Drive) offers panoramic views and multiple beach access points even for a pram.
At low tide you can walk from Pt Hughes Jetty to Moonta Bay Jetty

Bring your basketball for the Basketball ring at the house
Play lawn bowls on the artificial lawn
Skate Park - on the way to the Moonta Mines

Access to the separate toilet is compromised while someone is in the shower, although a shower curtain is in place u need to walk past the dressing area outside the shower to get to the toilet.

The first nine holes of The Dunes Port Hughes golf course are open and ready to play! This championship golf course is designed by Australian golf legend Greg Norman.
Don't forget to have a meal at the Port Hughes Tavern, they do a great Schnitzel, the ones that take the whole plate up, even the chicken ones are huge or the Dunes Café, all just a short stroll away.
The Hotels in Moonta also do a free bus pick up, which is good when you don't want a designated driver.
There is a deli near the jetty, which has takeaway, dine in and general fishing supplies along with groceries or there is the
Foodland in Moonta for all your supermarket needs (generally open till 9pm every day).

We have had our house at Port Hughes since 2006 and invite others to enjoy it for their holidays as much as we have. We are Mark and Wendy and boys Brodie and Jordyn.
