The longest winter is behind us! Come and enjoy the walks, beaches (wetsuit advised!) and history on the Tasman Peninsula. Kestie Cabin provides self-contained accommodation in the garden of my home, conveniently close to the Port Historic Site. The Three Capes Walk starting point is also nearby. Provisions for a light breakfast are included. Ideal for couples and solo adventurers for one night or more. Perfect for star-gazers.

Kestie Cabin is a spacious and recently renovated studio-style cabin, in the garden of my home, which offers the chance to wind-down and disconnect for a while.
There is a TV for DVDs but noTV reception at the moment. DVDs and board games provided. WiFi is not available, and many guest have enjoyed the opportunity for a 'technology detox'. Internet access can be arranged for emergencies, and it is freely available at the historic site. The mini-kitchen has a microwave, toaster, sandwich press, kettle and fridge, and there is an undercover bbq area available for guests to use.
The cabin is accessible on ground floor, via a gravel driveway. Wheeled access may be difficult. Unfortunately, the bathroom is not designed for wheelchair access.

Guests have private use of the cabin eith ensuite bathroom. The deck area is all yours - undercover barbeque area .
Relax in the garden. You may see me there watering, planting, watering or weeding, but it is left for you to enjoy all other times.

Communications - In and around Port Arthur: Telstra services will connect but users of other providers will have trouble receiving a signal. TIP - print out a paper copy of the map so you can find Kestie Cabin without a GPS.
Public transport around the Peninsula is limited.
Kestie Cabin is ideal for walkers who have just completed the beautiful Three Capes Walk - a nice hot shower with time to relax in the sun and take some gentle 'cool-down' walks.
There is a supermarket at Nubeena (15 mins by car). If you are travelling through Sorell, this is probably the best place to stop for supplies.

Carnarvon Bay is a beautiful and peaceful location. There is a small community that is a mix between 'locals' and 'shackies'. To find us, travel just past the Historic Site and turn left into Safety Cove Road, turning left into Pitman Avenue.
The bay is also ideal for kayaking. There is an exceptionally scenic 9 hole golf course 5 minutes away. The famous Shipstern Bluff surf break is nearby, and Safety Cove Beach is a treasure!
Nearby restaurants include - 1830, at the Historic Site, The Lavender Farm, Gabriel's at Stewart's Bay Lodge, The Fox and Hounds and the Port Arthur Motel Restaurant.
There are great day walks in the area.
Please note - there is no public transport in Port Arthur. A small owner operated taxi service may be able to assist.

Hi there! I have lived in Port Arthur for 3 years now and I love it! It is like living in a National Park, but with the perks of a friendly and welcoming local community. I love to swim and walk and sing with the CWA choir. I also volunteer at a charity book room at Eaglehawk Neck. Before this I lived up the road in Hobart. I enjoy being an AirBnB host. It is great meeting travelers, both local and international. I did a lot of traveling once upon a time, so I enjoy seeing it from the other side. My guests are just lovely people - it restores faith! I will usually be home. Easy arrangements will be made for the occasions when I am not. I am always happy to chat or assist with tourist info or will leave you in privacy. I will follow your lead. That said, I appreciate friendly guests. I am very interested in the history of the area so can probably answer questions you forget to ask the guide on your tour at the historic site.
