We invite you at your leisure to settle into our beautiful gardens or gallery with a cup of coffee or tea, pick out a good book, or game from our collection, and enjoy!

Our most spacious beautifully-adorned "Serenity" room, once our master bedroom offers an overview of our lovely Southern Magnolia and redbud trees in the front. It is a climate-controlled private bedroom with a comfortable queen bed, large dresser, large closet to conveniently accommodate your luggage, two comfortable wicker chairs, plenty of lamps for your reading and lounging pleasure, and bedside tables with multiple USB outlets to recharge your phones. In addition to enjoying this private space, you will have access to our art-adorned lounge with soft chairs and a coffee table suitable for games, a snack bar with a Keurig coffeemaker, microwave, small refrigerator, a smart tv with access to servers including Netflix, Amazon Prime, Youtube, Hulu, VUDU, high speed Wifi, a closet full of games, and a full beautifully-appointed bathroom with plenty of towels.

A private stairwell just inside the front door leads up to our Airbnb rooms and you are free to come and go at your leisure undisturbed. Outside you are welcome to enjoy our outdoor patio, front porch, shaded garden with lawn chairs, hammock, picnic table, deck chairs and umbrellas, bocci and cornhole, all available spring, summer, fall, and even winter if you like. Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and figs from our gardens are happily shared with our guests in season!

During this time of uncertainty surrounding the global COVID-19 pandemic we want to reassure you that we are doing everything possible to safeguard your health and wellbeing by following both the Center for Disease Control and Airbnb's Enhanced Cleaning and Sanitizing Protocols. In addition to sanitizing our spaces using CDC's guidelines, and spacing our stays between our guests with their recommended minimum of 24 hours, we also provide you with hand sanitizer in each room, disinfectant wipes, and cleaning supplies should you feel the need to use them. While we look forward to meeting and greeting you as the opportunity allows, we also respect and appreciate the need for social distancing and face-masks in our conversations as we seek to keep each other safe. If we can help make your stay more comfortable or allay any concerns you may have in any way, please do not hesitate to ask.

Strategically located within an hour's drive from scenic mountain vistas, hiking trails, woodland overlooks, waterfalls, lakes and streams in almost any direction. Drive west into George Washington National Forest, east, north and south to Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Appalachian Trail, Shenandoah National Park, Wintergreen, Massanutten, Sherando Lake, Natural Chimneys, Luray and Shenandoah Caverns, and more. Closer to home we are just a short walk and within a few minutes drive to many fine dining options including an unusual assortment of intercultural cuisine as well as to more traditional fare and fast food establishments, including several local breweries and wine shops. Our downtown also features Court Square Theater, several art galleries and gift shops that carry the work of local artists. This part of the Shenandoah Valley is also home to a remarkable network of artisans and craftspeople whose studios you may visit at your leisure on the Harrisonburg-Rockingham County Artisans Trail, of which David's Gallery of Pyrographic Art is one and whose studio is literally one of the adjoining rooms to yours just off the shared gallery lounge. We invite you to take in the ambiance at your leisure and David will be happy to offer you a personal tour at your request. Our Airbnb is also conveniently located between James Madison University about 1.5 miles to our southeast and Eastern Mennonite University about 1.5 miles to our northwest. We are just a half block from Morrison Park which features several playgrounds, a walking/jogging track, basketball and tennis courts, a picnic shelter pavilion, as well as plenty of grassy areas for lawn sports and games. We are also a convenient two blocks walk from Redfront Supermarket, Park View Pharmacy, and a laundromat.

As persons who were nurtured by the rich cultural traditions of hospitality in the Middle East, Mary Ann and I have come to enjoy the adventures of travel, of meeting new people and discovering new friendships among strangers, and of warm hospitality done well. Having grown up across the lines of that conflicted part of the world, we left what was home for us in Israel and the Gaza Strip and came to the Shenandoah Valley in 1974 for college, and have fallen in love with the exquisite natural beauty, the diverse intercultural communities who now grace our Friendly City, and the wealth of recreational opportunities we have here. We have enjoyed hiking the mountains, the spectacular overlooks and waterfalls, swimming the lakes, kayaking the rivers, and exploring new trails whenever we have a chance to get away. Whether as guests or hosts, finding new friendships often through experiences like Airbnb has left us with a treasure trove of memories we will always hold dear.

This is a host-occupied home (our living quarters are downstairs) and David very often works at home, so one of us is usually around and while we respect your desire to have this time and space to yourselves, we are more than happy to help with any questions or needs you may have. If we are not home we are just a phone call (numbers in our House Manual on your dresser) or text away via Airbnb's messaging thread.
