Our apartment is in the heart of the old part of the city, that's the reason because I always suggest to visit the city by foot. In 5 minutes by foot you can walk through the street market of Ballarò, (that is one of the ancient e and biggest markets of the city) and see his gorges colors, you can reach the nice boulevard of the port (I love to see the sunrise there!); you also should see Botanic Garden (12 minute walking), and Piazza Marina where is the the oldest and biggest Ficus three of Italy; you can also visit the gourges fountain of Piazza Pretoria (Fontana Pretoria o della Vergogna). In a walking distance I think you should see Palatin chapel (that is inside Royal Palace) with its very bright mosaics; or if you like horror and weird stuff you will appreciate the Catacomb of Cappuccini.
Also city center is famous for street food, you can have a big Arancina at bar Touring (close to the port) or eat a super delicious "panino panelle e crocchè" ( a typical sandwich) at the famous hosteria " nni Franco u vastiddaro for a really cheap price.
You can also have a very typical lunch in Piazza Marina at Zia Pina where you can choose your fish and they will cook it for you!
Also city center is famous for street food, you can have a big Arancina at bar Touring (close to the port) or eat a super delicious "panino panelle e crocchè" ( a typical sandwich) at the famous hosteria " nni Franco u vastiddaro for a really cheap price.

I am a very dynamic person and I work from many years with different kind of tourist in my beautiful Sicily.
