Smell the sweet scent of the flowers and fynbos, the serenade of the frogs, the sight of colorful birds, taste the aroma of fruits and veggies from our vegetable garden and orchard. Ideal for a couple or a couple with a child (not suitable for 3 adults). Mountain, garden, pond (filled with rainfall, season dependent. Not just a room in someone's house or sharing common areas. Your own little piece of tranquility. Our dogs roam freely in the property.

Private and cozy garden cottage with a beautiful view of the Storms River peak. It is equipped with cutlery, dishes, pots, pans. Also, a two ring stove and a 25l oven, toaster, microwave, bar fridge and a kettle.
The cottage has a 14" TV, DVD player and a limited DSTV (satellite TV).
The bed linen, towels and blankets are provided.
The cottage is built for year round accommodation.
You have privacy and you are not sharing the space with another couple. No common areas.
Cook outdoors on the stove or have a barbecue. Pick and choose your vegetables from our selection in our own no pesticides veggie patch. Superb variety of seasoned wood for barbecues , in South Africa we call it a braai . Blackwood, English Oak etc. We can help you set it up, please note that the wood is not for free. We kindly ask you to settle with us.
Our local shop caters for the basic needs, therefore, it will be better to come prepared.

On request, guests can have breakfast (price is not included on accommodation). Check with us in advance to arrange it, either a hot breakfast, or some muffins and croissants with jams and cheese.
We can also provide home made bread, please enquire about it in advance.
Our property is large and we will be very happy to see you exploring it. We can guide you through our garden and also you can sit and watch the bees do their work.

We have a gas geyser that is somehow temperamental. Please turn the hot tap (left on the shower) for about 30/40 seconds, then turn the cold tap slowly. You might have to adjust the temperature while in the shower.
We have a vegetable garden, you are welcome to share the produce and the delicious bounty is seasonal and varied.
Our dogs, cat and bunny roam freely in our property
Seed swapping of heirloom varieties is especially encouraged, bring some, go home with some.
Mushroom forays can be arranged in April & May (weather depedant) too for those interested in discovering the world's best, worm free porcini, Saffron milk caps and if one is lucky Chicken of the woods.
There's a local mini market with basic supplies. Otherwise, we suggest you to bring some meat and other products from a supermarket. The supermarkets nearby are in Kareedow (30 minutes away) or Plettenberg Bay (55 minutes away and passing a toll road).

I like that is a quaint village. Everything is within walking distance. There are lovely walks/trails nearby in the forest. You can leave your car behind and explore the different hiking trails.

We are a couple who met on a cruise ship 12 years ago. And after a fast track life, decided to settle in quaint Stormsrivier (Storms River Village) South Africa. Our son George is an inquisitive, friendly and happy child who loves to interact with our guests. He will be welcoming many more guests in the years to come. We share the passion of meeting nature loving people, permaculture gardening, travelling and cooking. We are not self sufficient, but we use a lot of our abundant and diverse produce in our dishes. We like to make our guests feel as if they were at home. For the ones who love the garden, they can immerse themselves in our vast garden/veggie/orchard patch. Robert is an avid forager of mushrooms in the forests, especially porcini and seafood off the rocks, He has built our new cabin (Boutique Vintage Forest Cabin) of which we are very proud and is an ardent follower of the tiny house movement. Piles of wood are collected and all sorts of vintage items have been salvaged to make the new cabin the natural light filled cabin it has become. For those who wish to swap and save seed , he has a great collection of heirloom varieties and if you have the good fortune of living in the province, he is very happy to collect many slips, cuttings and seedlings with you in our garden, to take home and plant in your own gardens. Diversity is key.

We will be glad to assist our guests whenever they require. We live on the premises, in the main house. We like to have a chat over some nice cup of jo before you head for your day activities or give you a little guided walk in our garden. Our dogs also like to socialize with our guests. They are friendly and used to having people.
We are knowledgeable of the local biome and practice various biodynamics and permaculture techniques.
