Fremantle or Freo as the locals call it is famous for its old world charm and friendly people. The free CAT bus will take you to the many historic sites which are all well worth a visit. A visit to the markets is a must if you are lucky enough to be in Freo on Friday Saturday or Sunday. There are 2 markets one at E shed and the famous Henderson Street markets in the centre of town near the Sail and Anchor pub. The famous cappuccino strip is an easy walk downhill, there are too many cafes and restaurants to mention, Freo has a large Italian influence so lots of pizzas and casual dining. There are also lots of places for fine dining, Mews Road has all the waterfront eateries including the Little Creatures Brewery and Char Char Bull, Ciccerello's, Kailis and Sweet-lips are the best known 3 fish and chip establishments. There are lots of lovely walks along the ocean past the markets at E Shed and the Rottnest ferries. The train and bus station are in the same region.
