Tree-top camp is ideal spot for anyone who enjoys solitude, camping, hiking, mountain biking, birding, picnics, relaxing on a deck high in the treetops in the forest . . . and soaking up the peace and tranquility found in nature.

Treetop is not for everyone - read on to see if it is your kind of destination (or not!).
Follow a footpath from the parking area into the forest to discover a tree house on the riverbank in remote wilderness high up in a tall tree in the valley. Relax in a hammock on the deck, at eye-level with the forest birds. Only for the truly adventurous – treetop doesn’t have the facilities (plumbed bathroom/electricity/cell phone reception) that you would find in town.
If you love nature, the forest, remote locations, peace and tranquility, solitude far from civilization, adventure, getting up close and personal with nature - DO VISIT TREETOP.
If you prefer luxurious living in a nice comfortable hotel or guest house with plumbing, electricity, DSTV and wifi and DONT like getting up close and personal with nature (including bugs/insects/a scattering of forest leaves on the bed) - DONT VISIT TREETOP (Its not everyone's idea of fun!)
Recommended for intrepid 'outdoor' people who are happy to live a few days without such things and who love hiking, camping, and living out in nature.
An ideal base for trail runners, hikers and bike riders.
Or for family adventures, couples looking for a romantic hideaway, church or special interest groups, overseas travelers and local nature lovers.

You will be the only occupants at the treehouse other than the birds and the forest creatures - your closest farm neighbor is at least 3km away! This is a destination for people who love solitude. But if you want to be in civilization for a bit - Bathurst village is just 14km down the track. Explore art galleries, potters studio, quirky shops and the farmer's organic market (sundays). Port alfred is only 20km away, plenty of shops, pubs, restaurants. A short drive will take you to stunning remote beaches at Riet River and Kleinemonde. Nyala Valley Game Reserve and Oceana Beach and Wildlife Reserve are right next door, if you want to take a game drive.

Treetop is high up in the trees and the deck has bamboo balustrades but is not enclosed - for this reason it is not recommended for families with children under 8 years.
You will need to carry your gear 50(or 200) metres down a steep stony footpath from the parking area - keep this in mind when packing for your visit.

7 mattresses (2xbunkbeds, 1 daybed in lounge, 2 extra mattress for the deck)

Treetop Tented Camp is in the forest next to a stream on a coastal beef cattle farm. You are remote and 'far from the madding crowd' surrounded by forest, high cliffs and farm land.
The beaches and coast line are stunning and only a hike/run/2min drive away.

Tharfield Farm is a haven of peace for people who love nature, adventurous activities, and animals. Chris runs 600 head of Boran cattle on the farm, while Jann runs 3 Sisters Horse Trails on the adjacent beach and hiking trails to River Treehouse on the Riet River. We both love to travel, and spent several years sailing and backpacking in South East Asia and Australasia.
