A private family suite within a new, traditional-style wooden house in Fiskars design village. The house is warm and cosy throughout winter and only a short walk from the village centre with its beautiful river path and art venues open all year round. There are two guest bedrooms - a master and a bunkbed room - which between them share a luxurious family-sized bathroom and private electric sauna.
The house also has a kitchen and dining room that you are welcome to share with us.

Your suite is downstairs. From the entrance hall, pass through the laundry and into your master bedroom. Continue through another door to the spacious bathroom with shower and electric sauna. The bathroom has a second door leading to the second bedroom, a small room with bunkbeds. The second bedroom also has its own door leading back to the main house.
You are welcome to share the main house facilities including a large, well-equipped kitchen and dining room.
Laundry facilities are on-site - please ask to use the washing machine and dryer.

There are two house cats (one permanent, one foster). Please be careful to keep doors closed, and to make sure they can't escape through an open window.
You're welcome to share the kitchen and there's space for your food, but please don't bring any meat or fish (we are vegetarian).

Fiskars village is unique in the world. Made famous by Fiskars Oy, inventor of the orange-handled kitchen scissors, for decades the community has thrived as a creative hub for artists and designers. Although the population is only 600, Fiskars is a popular tourist destination and has restaurants, museums, galleries and a plethora of design shops to look around. Check out the traditional blacksmith shop, the local cider and distillery, buy some hand crafted goods directly from the designer, or just enjoy the beautiful landscape. As well as a long riverside walk, there are extensive mountain biking trails and cross-country skiing, lake swimming and a forest trail. In winter there is a ski slope just 4km away.

Originally from Wales, I moved to Sydney in 2012 where I continued my work as a service designer. In 2017 I then came to Finland and have settled in Fiskars where I work on Global Health and International Development challenges.

I typically work from home but also travel overseas frequently, so I may or may not be around during your stay. I and my housemates have rooms upstairs, but we also share the downstairs kitchen and I have an office / studio at the back of the house.
