This is a beautiful quirky little studio that we built, utilising lots of recycled materials, in our former garage which sits at the back of our yard. The property is very conveniently located, being just a short walk from the centre of Hobart City and a 20 minute stroll to the delights of the Hobart waterfront.

The studio features a loft space fitted with queen bed, quality bedding plus your own little window for gazing across the lights of Hobart. It is a low ceiling in the loft so if you are claustrophobic then this may not suit you.
There is a kitchenette equipped with a electric hotplates, fridge, real coffee, cocktail glasses and all the other necessities for eating and drinking up a storm!
The vivid RED bathroom has a toilet, washbasin and shower plus there is an outside bath plumbed into the deck in the yard that guests are also welcome to enjoy ( a glass of red in a steamy hot bath in the crisp Tasmania winter air is perfection!).
It is a small space and ideally suited to one or two people but on request we can provide a portacot for those travelling with a baby, and there is also the possibility of turning the built in couch into a bed for a child.
The studio is self contained with access from the driveway but there is another door that leads to a backyard which is shared with our family. Guests are welcomed and encouraged to utilise the garden space - to relax in a chair, pick veggies or herbs from our garden ( Paul is a keen gardener), grab some eggs from our chooks, to wind down in the outside bath tub that is sunk into the deck. However, I should mention that we have three kids and we are very sociable so the backyard is not always a calm and peaceful place, indeed sometimes it is the setting for grand pirate adventures, or for daring culinary acts by my 7 year old, or tragic tussles over the plastic watering can toy. You get the picture!
We provide guests with:
some breakfast supplies, including muesli, milk, eggs ( when the hens are laying), tea and real coffee.

a mini-library and board games
all the kitcheny things
wifi access
oil, salt and pepper ( because it is really annoying having to buy such things for a two night stay)
a booklet with local knowledge of things to do
Off street parking
We are a very laid back and sociable family and we love meeting new people and are happy for guests to just wander by and ask us questions.
Because we are living on the same property as the studio the chances are that we will be able to meet guests to introduce them to the space and make sure they are settled in okay. If we happen to be away then we will leave a key and instructions for guests in an arranged location.
This is a super convenient location as it is just a short stroll down Liverpool St into town or down to the wharf ( where the MONA ferry and bus leaves from) and Salamanca Market. Also, it is just a 5 minute to the Hobart Rivulet, which is a nice place to walk, bike or jog along. If you are fit an adventurous you can even follow the rivulet track right up the mountain.

Hi, I am a Tasmanian filmmaker and mother of Spike 10, Coco 8, and Sunny 6. My husband Paul runs Earthworm Landscaping and when not working on other people's gardens loves pottering in his own veggie patch or going surfing at the wild Tassie beaches. Spike is currently very interested in collecting rocks, fossils and animals for his museum ( he even has a real snake head in a jar!), Coco loves running 'Coco Cafe' and serves all manner of interesting dishes, including Feather Rabbit ( a little chewy!), whilst Sunny pretty much just wants to be doing whatever her older siblings are doing. We are a very relaxed family, who enjoy travelling and having adventures together and we are happy to welcome travellers to enjoy our home whilst we are elsewhere.
