Stoney Creek Treehouse has been designed to bring the outside in. Guests staying at the Treehouse are offered a unique rainforest experience only 20 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of city and Cairns airport.
Enjoy sitting on the deck listening to the birds in the day and the geckos at night, exploring the endless private waterholes of Stoney Creek and bush walking in the myriad of tracks of the Barron Gorge National Park.
Perfect for visitor wanting to be close to nature.

The architecturally designed house features two bedrooms at opposite ends of the house with a large central living area divided into inside (kitchen, living) and outside (deck, bathroom, laundry) areas that open on to each other.
The bathroom is an open aired yet private space where the outdoors meets the indoors.It is constructed simply, with large sliding glass doors allowing the house to be opened up to the forest. All doors have insect screens so you can enjoy the forest without the bites.
Animals spotted here can include bush turkey, monitor lizard, echidna, pademelons (night time rainforest wallaby – only seen once), frogmouth owls, red breasted robin, blue robin and many more. Rainforest insect life is very special and occasionally we get fireflies, leaf stick insects, giant stick insects, and Hercules moths (the biggest moth in the world with a 30cm wing span). We have never seen a cassowary here but they have been seen regularly on the Glacier Rock track, which starts 30m from the front door. If you see something you think is special or unusual please note it in the visitor book so we know what animals have been here.
In-house information for visitors includes hot local tips on things to do, see and eat around Stoney Creek, favourite Cairns restaurants, Aboriginal family owned tours and local Aboriginal Dreaming stories. We encourage visitors to grab the picnic set and take advantage of the free council electric BBQs on the beaches and Esplanade. We have designed a free 2-hour walking tour of Cairns public art that is also an introduction to the city, the Lagoon and the Cairns Esplanade.

Stoney Creek Gorge is the perfect location for Cairns visitors, situated just 15 minutes drive from Cairns airport, 20 minutes from the Cairns Esplanade and 20 minutes to the Northern Beaches. Skyrail and the Freshwater Railway Station (for the Kuranda train) are each 5-10 minutes away. Please note a car highly recommended at Stoney Creek as there is no public transport.

We are Cairns locals living at the Northern Beaches with our teenage son and Luci our fur baby. We love getting out to the beaches, exploring what the Far North has to offer and sharing it with others.

You will be greeted on arrival by Julie or one the co-hosts and once you are comfortable in the home, you will be left to enjoy the space. During your stay the Hosts are only a phone call away.
