Step aboard the Cuba Libre, our beautiful sailboat, for a truly unique stay! This is a destination rather than just an accommodation.
This is a wonderful location in a quaint marina - very convenient for a quarantine! :)
Waking up on the water to the sounds of the sea, birds and humming boats is a very special experience you will never forget. You are in a lovely area in the capital with restaurants and cafés around the corner - yet so close to the amazing nature Iceland is known for!

Welcome to our private sailboat that is like a floating cabin in the Reykjavik area. You will have access to modern comforts like WIFI and a smart TV with Netflix, Youtube etc.
It has a small kitchen area, a living area with plenty of seating and the navigation table can double as a work station. Free parking is provided on the dock.
The boat has 5 cabins, three double beds and two bunk beds, so it sleeps 10 people. It has three bathrooms with a toilet and shower.

Staying on a boat is a very unique experience which we hope will be unforgettable. Just keep in mind that since it is a boat it is not easily accessible for those who have a difficulty walking. The boat might rock and sway, especially in stormy weather. This is the North-Atlantic - there is always a chance of storm in winter.
If you use more than 900 litres of water during your stay, we will have to refill the water tank for you (gladly, of course).
The showers are typical handheld boat showers and the toilets are pump-toilets, where you have to use a pump to flush, like in most boats, caravans etc. The hot water tank is a normal 20l tank.
If you like, you can contact us for information about the possibility of a private tour during your stay, sailing into the blue bay and maybe trying to see some puffins and whales!

During winter the boat is docked in "Hafnarfjordur marina", in a very cute neighbourhood in the capital area with old houses and streets.
It is around 15- 20 minutes from Reykjavik downtown with a car and just 30 minutes away from the airport. There is a direct bus that goes to the Reykjavik City Center (bus nr. 1), which takes about 35 minutes.
There is a supermarket across the street from the marina and a swimming pool just a few minutes away. Close to the harbour there are many different restaurants, ice-cream parlours and even a viking themed pub!
You need a special key to get into the dock area, which has security surveillance, so you'll be in a very safe and private area.

I live in Reykjavik with my partner and our four year old daughter. I love coffee, plants, books, Bruce Springsteen, salty liquorice and being on the road to anywhere. My partner grew up in a fishing village and has been sailing since he was eight years old. He is a huge basketball fan who loves his NBA shirts and will often be seen wearing slippers outside. We bought a sailboat recently and hope to be able to live onboard one day and travel around the world, using the most environmentally friendly means of transport there is - wind and blue waters. However, we have a young child and another one on the way, so for now we're renting out our boat for others to enjoy!
