Barna is a quaint and charming seaside village with its stone pier and excellent restaurants, located 8km from Galway city along the R336 coast road. Barna Woods lie to the right as one drives from Galway aprox 3 miles form the city centre. It has the last national growing oaks in the west of Ireland and it is a wonderful place for a quiet country walk. Galway's most beautiful blue flag beaches, Silver Strand is also situated in Barna with stunning views of the Burren Hills in County Clare. There are unrivalled views overlooking Galway Bay and the surrounding coastline across to the Clare hills and westward to the Aran Islands.
Our house is only a 5 minute walk from Barna village and is also very close to Barna Golf Club with more than 100 hectares of unique countryside. Our house is very close to the old barna bog road and its a favourite walk taken by many of the locals. Rusheen Bay Windsurfing offers kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, windsurfing lessons and rental. Prebooking is essential.
The village is home to a number er of exceptional restaurants; The award winning seafood restaurant O Grady's On The Pier, the beautiful boutique hotel 'The Twelve' with its West Restaurant, Pins Gastro Bar and Pizza Dozzina. Hooked fish and chips where you can bring your own wine, Donnelly's pub and bar food and Spiced which was voted Galways best new Indian restaurant 2019. Fine coffee and delicious food is served in NourishCoffee and Eatery 7 days a week and Barcella Cafe serving breakfast and lunch during the week and brunch on the weekends.
The village also has a supermarket, a number of excellent hair salons, Piorra Beauty spa, The design House boutique which stocks exclusive Irish and European designer labels and a whole lot more to offer
