WINTER BOOKINGS: Click on Read More for important info. Oaksteel Escape is a refurnished studio apartment with private entrance and patio. This is a 7-acre peaceful retreat with no immediate neighbors and easy access to the highway to Asheville, Chimney Rock & Lake Lure. It features Mission style furniture, a desk/work space with charging station, WiFi, flatscreen TV, kitchenette (microwave/toaster oven) with sink and refrigerator, dining area, and full bath with shower. You'll love it.

Parking is private and just steps away from the apartment entrance. There are no stairs. The kitchen offers all the utensils, glassware and dishes you'll need, and there's a small library available. Parties with a third guest can make use of a pull-out bed from the big easy chair. Central air cools the space in the summer, while central and baseboard heating and a propane stove keep it toasty warm in cooler weather.

Guests have access to the full seven-acre property with a sloping meadow and great views. Weather permitting, a table at the top of the meadow is provided to enjoy the view (see photos).

BOOKINGS THROUGH MARCH 4: There is a 3-night minimum during the winter months, due to the potential for winter weather than could strand guests on the property while the hosts clear the snow. (See the "Winter Weather" note, below.) Guests who are staying at least three nights may be less inconvenienced by weather disruptions. Please note that if you book a winter stay, you are agreeing to be patient with snow and ice removal in the event of winter weather.
NO VISITORS: No visitors are permitted at Oaksteel Escape. The apartment is for use by registered guests who are spending the night ONLY. If you have friends to meet in the area, please meet them off property. There are no exceptions to this rule unless cleared by the hosts in advance of your arrival.
KITCHENETTE: The galley kitchenette includes a sink, refrigerator, coffeemaker, microwave, and toaster oven. There is no full oven or stovetop. All necessary dishes are provided, in addition to cooking utensils, knives, cutting boards, bowls, teapot, and so on. An electric skillet can be provided to guests enjoying longer stays, if requested in advance.
WINTER WEATHER: Spruce Way is a private, one-lane road that is not plowed by the county after snow or ice. In the event of snow or ice, the road is passable only by four-wheel drive vehicles until the snow stops falling, after which we clear the road by hand, which takes about 2-3 hours. Even 4-wheel drive vehicles could be stranded by particularly deep snowfalls. Please check the weather forecast before your arrival to make sure your visit is not likely to be disrupted by any snow or ice. It only snows a few times a year here, but it does happen. If you need to book elsewhere now or before your arrival because of potential weather impact, we understand. Last-minute cancellations due to winter weather forecasts will always be granted.

Oaksteel Escape is conveniently located halfway between downtown Asheville and Chimney Rock State Park, just 15 minutes from South Asheville. Oaksteel Escape sits on seven acres that includes lovely views of the surrounding mountains and a lush meadow that's frequented by wildlife.
