This cozy, serene cabin is nestled in the trees of Mt Lemmon near the small town of Summerhaven. Pets are allowed here. This home has 1 small bedroom with a twin bed. The loft has two beds, one full and one king size. The checkered sofa by the fireplace is a Murphy bed and folds into a bed. There are extra blankets stored underneath the Murphy bed. There is one small bathroom with a shower. On the deck, you will have the use of the flat grill BBQ. There is a brown deck storage box with chairs and a hammock (key for the box in a lockbox). From the bottom of the stairway, you can park across the road, or you can drive around the bend up the hill to the south side of the cabin onto the private driveway and walk down the stairway to the cabin entrance.
*** You have to drive up a hill to reach the south side of the cabin. A 4x4 or an all-wheel-drive car is necessary for the private driveway. You can drive up the dirt road/hill on low gear. Low and slow.
Pets allowed but No Smoking Inside the home. No food or drinks in the bedrooms, please.
From the base of Mt. Lemmon, you head north on Catalina Highway to Summerhaven.
Heading into Summer Heaven, you will be passing a speed sign (25 mph) on the right side of the road, and you will be passing the street to Ski Valley until you see the Mt. Lemmon Community Center on the right side of the road and the US Post Office and the Sawmill Run Restaurant across the street. You then take a right on Turkey Run Rd, heading west until you come to Guthrie Rd on the left side of the road.
Take a left on Guthrie Rd (dirt road), heading up the hill. Guthrie wraps around to the left. You will see a road sign, “Wren,” pass the road heading west; you will still be on Guthrie road.
There are two ways to get to the cabin. First, the north part of the cabin will show the address, 12955; however, you cannot park in the parking lot in front of the cabin, that parking space is for the cabin next door, and there is a sign letting you know. You can park across the road and walk up the stairway to the cabin (62 steps leading up to the cabin). Second, continue driving on the road until it curves south. You will see a road sign on the right side, “Tanager.” The hill looks steep; a 4x4 or all-wheel-drive car is recommended however, you can drive up the hill using your low gear. Go low and slow. You will then see two red reflectors on the right side. Turn right for the south side entrance to the cabin, 32 steps to the cabin's deck. This is the private parking spot for the cabin.
There is wood for burning in the fireplace behind the cabin under a blue tarp. You can access the woodpile by going through the back door of the cabin.
