Our historic C&O Canal house charmingly renovated.
The original 1790 log house, with 1850 additions, was recently updated with modern amenities, while retaining its historic charm. Operated since 2019 as a very successful AirBnB (earlier guest reviews did not fully transfer during re-listing).
Multiple outdoor venues on the extensive grounds. Property borders the C&O Canal and the towpath, mile marker 81 and Taylors Landing boat launch on the Potomac River (seasonal river views from property).
房源空間
Step back into the America's story by entering our historic home, freshly and tastefully decorated in ways that respect its origins as a rural cottage expanded over generations, with the newest addition dating back to 1850.
At the same time, the house is equipped with modern amenities (cable TV, dishwasher, high-end kitchen appliances).
Our guests enjoy two bedrooms (master bedroom with queen bed, and a 2nd bedrooms with two twin beds), a full bath with clawfoot bathtub and shower and a half bath, a cozy living room, formal dining room, and a generous and cozy kitchen with "primitive furniture," including a "Baker's table" and all new appliances (including dishwasher, Keurig machine, etc.) and a remote-controlled gas fireplace!
An expansive porch with rocking chairs invites you to relax with a view of the C&O Canal and towpath and the Potomac River beyond (the latter, when the trees lose their foliage). The pergola is set up for outdoor dining and is equipped with a gas grill flanked by two water fountains that provide a wonderfully soothing ambiance. Another outdoor sitting area down the hill towards the Canal also has a fire pit and seating. Ready for s’mores or star gazing?

Vern is pleased to be able to host—and share this invaluable treasure of Americana with—you. He has been fascinated with the importance of the C&O Canal in American history and has been biking on the C&O towpath for many years now. Imagine seeing the C&O canal not only from the bike, but from your house! Vern is asking for your help as he works to become a quality host following in the footsteps of the previous owner Leslie, a remarkably experienced AirBnB Superhost.
