Wayside is a quaint english country cottage situated in the gorgeous village of Milburn located within the North Pennines conservation area, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are numerous walks from the door including access to Cross Fell the highest English mountain outside the Lake District. It's also within easy reach of the Lake District with Ullswater being less than 30 minute drive away so perfect for touring the Lakes or the Eden Valley.
房源空間 Wayside is a wonderful English country cottage, it's within easy reach of the Lake District and is nestled at the foot of the North Pennines in the AONB conservation area. The cottage dates back to 1850’s and features exposed beams and sash windows. It has been recently been modernised to include modern appliances with everything thought of to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The kitchen has a vaulted ceiling with exposed beams, bespoke handmade units with wooden worktops, breakfast bar and a belfast sink. All of the appliances you could need are here including integral dishwasher, fridge/freezer, kettle, nespresso coffee machine, microwave and of course a range oven and electric hob. There is a cosy lounge/dining room with a wood burning stove, beamed ceilings, two comfy sofas, TV with Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+, Sonos soundbar, WiFi and dining table with seating for four. Also, downstairs is a Utility room with bespoke hand built cabinets, wooden worktops, belfast sink, washer machine/tumble dryer and downstairs toilet. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms both with double beds and a bathroom. The master bedroom has glorious views across the village green towards cross fell, while the landing window gives equally glorious views to the lakeland fells. There is also a bathroom with roll top bath ideal for a relaxing soak after a long walk in the Lake District or the Eden Valley. The garden is fully enclosed and includes a shed and summer house, BBQ and seating for four.
With easy access to the Lake District, North Pennines and the Eden Valley there is plenty to see and do. Locally there are numerous walks with access to the Pennine Way and Cross Fell directly from Milburn. Why not visit the local village of Dufton where you climb High Cup Nick or the local Dufton Pike. In the springtime the bluebells at Flakebridge woods are spectacular and a recommended local walk. Dufton also has our favourite local pub the Stag Inn which serves good quality home cooked food and a selection of cask ales. If you like to cycle, the Pennine cycleway runs through Milburn with the quiet lanes around the Pennies being relatively traffic free. Ullswater is around a 30 minute drive from the cottage and is a great day out be that walking the Ullswater Way or surrounding fells, taking the steamer boat across the lake or participating in water sports, such as paddle boarding or canoeing. There are numerous cafes and pubs in the villages of Pooley Bridge, Patterdale and Glenridding to keep yourself refreshed after a day of activity. Also, Keswick is only a 40 minutes’ drive away where you can take a boat over Derwent Water, climb the famous family friendly Cat Bells, or explore the numerous shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes in the famous Lakeland town centre. Penrith is the nearest town 9 miles away with a selection of high street shops and supermarkets and is around a 20 minute drive away. The nearest local shop is in the neighbouring village of Kirkby Thore a 10 minute drive by car. There are a selection of local pubs which all serve food within 4 miles of the cottage.
