We are Guri and Arne - two friends both anchored in the outdoor community on the Lofoten Islands. In addition to our passion for the outdoors, we share a common dream: creating a space where outdoor-minded travelers can come together and fully experience island life above the Arctic Circle.
In late Autumn 2018, we discovered this old building by chance and instantly knew it was something special. Located in the heart of Lofoten, the building was an elderly home in its past life, having been left empty and forgotten for some years before we found it. We took it upon ourselves to keep its heritage alive by renovating it into a true adventure base for travelers coming to the islands.
The old elderly home ‘Borge Bygdeheim’ was reborn as FURU, a hostel dedicated to the outdoors and to you, the traveler who comes to Lofoten to seek an adventure base and experience island life.
We are stoked to share our love of the outdoors and life on the islands with you!
