“The Parthenon stands proudly as the centerpiece of Centennial Park, Nashville’s premier urban park. The re-creation of the 42-foot statue Athena is the focus of the Parthenon just as it was in ancient Greece. The building and the Athena statue are both full-scale replicas of the Athenian originals. Originally built for Tennessee’s 1897 Centennial Exposition, this replica of the Parthenon in Athens, Greece serves as a monument to what is considered the pinnacle of classical architecture. The plaster replicas of the Parthenon Marbles found in the Naos are direct casts of the original sculptures, which adorned the pediments of the Athenian Parthenon dating back to 438 B.C. The originals of these powerful fragments are housed in the British Museum in London.”

“The Frist Center for the Visual Arts is a wonderful place for art lovers. The center educates visitors on art and hopes it will bring about an interest in the community on the subject. The architecture is beautiful and the interiors and decor lend the space a very upscale elite ambiance and it frequently hosts art exhibitions. At the Frist Center, there is also a fabulous gift shop, where one can purchase memorabilia and other items and an excellent cafe where one can savor some delightful dishes and sip on coffee. Admission is free for students who are 18 and below.”

“ Uncover the enigma behind The Man in Black with a visit to The Johnny Cash Museum. The museum, which opened in April 2013, boasts the world’s largest collection of Johnny Cash artifacts and memorabilia, including films, handwritten notes and letters penned by Cash himself along with more than 25 costumes made famous during the music legend’s career. Exhibits spotlight different periods in Cash’s life, including his years in the Air Force, his marriage to June Carter and his famous prison concert tour. And because the museum is officially endorsed by the Cash family, you can bet you’ll stumble across other personal mementos not available to the public anywhere else, like a stone wall excavated from Johnny and June’s Hendersonville Lake House that’s been repurposed into one of the exhibits. Johnny Cash fans loved the wealth of information on display at this museum.”

“Best view of the Nashville skyline. A trendy and "hidden" locale, Love Circle is the site the locals refer to as Music City's lover lane. Located near Vanderbilt between Natchez Trace and West End, this residential street winds its way up a steep hill to a small park overlooking the city.”

“Love Circle is a historic spot that has come to be known as Nashville's very own lovers' lane. Wind up the residential drive in West End and you'll find a park with stunning views of Music City. The hill is located 744 feet above sea level and once was the highest point in the old City of Nashville, according to a marker placed in the park by The Hillsboro-West End Neighborhood Association. What to do once you reached the top? Well, that's up to you! We'd suggest grabbing a blanket and a picnic for a romantic date with your one and only. Stop by from 6a—9p daily (the park closes at dusk to keep neighbors like John Rich happy campers.”

“ the venue that started it all. It was the Ryman -- “the Mother Church of Country Music” -- that first started attracting names like Hank Williams, Dolly Parton, and George Jones, securing Nashville’s status as the American center of country music. The Ryman remains a country music mecca, but as one of the city’s most dazzling concert-going experiences, has also hosted everyone from the Foo Fighters to Janelle Monae. Even if you don’t make it to a concert, it’s at least worth taking the time for a brief tour. Check their homepage for concerts and dates.”

“The Grand Ole Opry is a weekly American country music stage concert in Nashville, Tennessee, founded on November 28, 1925, by George D. Hay as a one-hour radio "barn dance" on WSM. Currently owned and operated by Opry Entertainment, it is the longest-running radio broadcast in US history”

“When you walk through the doors of historic Ryman Auditorium, one thing becomes clear right away: this isn’t just another nightly music venue, and it’s so much more than a daytime tourist stop. This place is hallowed ground. This is the exact spot where bluegrass was born—where Johnny Cash met June Carter, where souls were saved and a slice of history was nearly lost. It was right here that country music found an audience beyond its own back porch, and countless careers took off as deals were signed on napkins and paper scraps backstage. Open daily for tours and shows, right in the heart of Music City.”

“Tucked into the heart of downtown Nashville is a beautiful historic library building. The entire space is gorgeous but from the exterior, you might not ever know it was there. I highly recommend it as a spot to focus on some work or just get some perspective and center oneself. Bonus: Parking is validated.”
