Let's get into the design details of 8-10 of my favorite examples of architecture by Japan's top architects. We'll see (new) buildings by almost every internationally recognized architect in Japan. It's such a rare case to have a high density of examples from the most heralded architects in one area. We'll also look at more examples of buildings to give you a sense of each architect's design. We'll go on top of rooftops, around corners, and through the small streets of Aoyama. We'll talk about design of the buildings, and their place in the city through the lens of a few themes. I'll show you connections between Japanese culture and urban design. I also make connections between my own worldview, transformed by Japan, and the city.

The ride returns through the Ebisu neighborhood. You get to see a lot - and it's much more fun than riding around crammed subways and trains!! I also offer a '6.5 hour Tokyo Bicycle Tour' - which includes the Imperial Palace, the Diet Building, Ginza, Tokyo Tower and Roppongi Hills. It is also listed on Airbnb experiences under bicycle tours for Tokyo. For groups of 3+ - probably can accommodate whatever ride/date you want - send me an email!

See the last vestiges of old Tokyo tucked away in the Shinjuku area. In the quiet afternoon, we'll safely pedal along the shrines and temples lining the historic Kanda River, stopping for traditional Japanese snacks and catching a glimpse of local students playing sports. We'll see new and modern architecture in exclusive neighborhoods and innovative play parks for young children that are being studied worldwide.
