Sapori

Sapori is owned and managed by the Incorvaia family. They are from Italy. They make their own pasta and its really good. It's off the beaten path but is becoming popular now because they are soooo good. You have to bring your own alcohol. They are popular so you should make reservations before you go.

Mosquito Cafe

The Mosquito Café is a great place to go for breakfast, unique salads and other dishes. They open at 8:00 and are very popular so if you want to eat there on the weekends, its best to get there right when they open. There is always a line.

The Original Mexican Cafe

My parents first took us to the Original Mexican Café when I was a small child in the early 1950's. At that time it was a small corner restaurant with only eight or ten tables. It has expanded over the years. There are other good places for Mexican food in Galveston but the Original Mexican Restaurant is my favorite.

It has expanded over the years. There are other good places for Mexican food in Galveston but the Original Mexican Restaurant is my favorite.

Shearn's

Shearn's offers the best service in Galveston and possibly the best food as well. A friend who is a frequent world traveler told me that the chateau briand is the best she's ever had. There is a casual dress code (no shorts). It's expensive but a great place to go every once in awhile for a really special occasion. Next to Shearn's (on the ninth floor of the Moody Gardens Hotel) is a bar which has a piano player on Friday and Saturday nights. It's a great romantic spot.

You can get a good hamburger or seafood dishes at the restaurant or you can go to one of the three bars (including a sports bar) and enjoy a beer or other adult beverage as you watch the game. Also, ask me how the Spot was assembled out of four different houses.
