This is a great park to go swimming in the summer time. They have a beach and a spot to rent kayaks and canoes. This park also has many hiking trails. You must pay for each car entering into the park since it is a state park. The fee is $10 (or less).

If you are into gambling or visiting casinos, Black Hawk is the perfect day trip for you! It is a cool little mountain town lined with dozens of casinos. It is quite a neat spot! It is a quick drive up into the mountains. Plus you drink for free if you are gambling! Win win.

There are some great trails in this area, some of which are paved (in case of mud or snow) - The Big Easy is one that comes to mind, but there are many others. Mayhem Gulch is not paved and very steep, but a fun and challenging hike with great views at the top.
