A train from Nottingham to Matlock Bath takes about an a hour and a day's return is £9.30. From here you take a cable car up the mountain (show your train ticket for a discount) and you have stunning views of the Derwent Valley and can also visit the natural caves where lead was mined at the Heights of Abraham.

History of Nottingham's caves, we had an actor led tour which was fantastic but I've been told the audio tour is very good also.
