You can catch a ferry from Falmouth (Prince of Wales Pier) and visit St Mawes where there is a castle, galleries, cafes, pubs and walks. I recommend walking to St Just-in-Roseland church. You can often see seals on the ferry ride and sometimes, dolphins.

Maenporth Beach
Local beach - a sandy cove with a beach cafe that catches the evening sun.
So many spots to explore on this river and there are beautiful walks along the banks. Bosveal car park is a good starting point and you can walk in either direction. Good swimming spots at Grebe and Durgan and Helford Passage. Good pub at Helford Passage - The Ferryboat.
