The Hauraki Rail Trail is only 150m from Shaftesbury Glade Cottages. Manawaru is about 12 kms from Te Aroha and 24 kms from Matamata. The Rail Trail is tar-sealed from Matamata to Te Aroha and is of a flat easy to peddle gradient for the entire distance. From Te Aroha north, the Rail Trail is unsealed with fine chip metal.
