20 min drive. A locally owned coop ski area, it is one of the few that does not allow snowboarding. It is also a more technically challenging ski area than some of the others in the area with good vertical drop. If you're looking for some moguls, you found them.

29 min drive. A smaller and slightly cheaper option than some of the big resorts. Not on Icon or Epic pass systems so its a little less crowded and like Mad River, more of a locals mountain. Night skiing on the main trail is also available here.

41 min drive. Part of the Epic pass. On Mt Mansfield, this is the tallest peak in Vermont. A really high-end resort and ski area and while it can be quite busy on holidays, it has a lot of great terrain. They also offer some night skiing.

1 hr 12 min drive in the winter. This is the time that it takes to go up and around to avoid the Notch Pass road closure on historic RT 108 between Stowe and Smuggler's resorts. This section is closed through the winter from mid-October through mid-May. 910 Cochran Rd31 min drive. This is a tiny, family owned ski area and the tickets are cheap! Honestly, I've never even been but its right off of I-89 so its very easy to get to. If you're looking for something unique and off the beaten path, this is sure to be it. The Cochran family has quite the history of Olympic level ski racing as well.

13 min drive. Walkable downtown area with some nicer bars and restaurants. Off of I-89 and not too far from the town of Stowe, but not so close that it feels like a tourist or ski town. Worth checking out.

They have a covered outdoor seating area with picknick tables in a beer garden type of setup. They do a variety of BBQ style food out there and they have a wide variety of beer styles, all tending to be pretty good.
47 min drive. A no frills experience here. They have a bar where you can do tastings and not too much else. But the beer is quality and its another place specializing in New England style IPAs. If you're in the area anyway, maybe worth popping in.

15 min drive. Burnt Rock/Mount Ethan Allen. Take Hedgehog Brook Trail to connect to the Long Trail. Go out and back 4.9mi to Burnt Rock Mountain or continue onward for a 9.1 out a back to Mount Ethan Allen. The Long Trail continues on to Camel's Hump from there.

3444 Little River Rd24 min drive. Stevenson Brook Trail starts at about 120 meters past the Park Office. An easy walk trail following a stream through the woods. In early spring it can be icy. If you want to complete the loop, you will need to cross the stream, but its nice even as an out and back.
From May to late October, all visitors are required to pay a day use fee of $4 for adults and $2 for kids.
27 min drive. 4.1 mi out and back trail from the Waterbury side of the mountain. Not too long but considered hard as it involves some scrambling as you reach the summit. I think its one of the more fun hikes if you like some technical challenge.
