Push chair accessible flat walk around a beautiful tarn. Children will love discovering the money trees! For a more strenuous walk, park at the car park to the south of the tarn and walk up the hill by the waterfalls.
Park in Rydal and have a look around the gardens at Rydal Hall. Then walk past Wordsworth's cottage along the coffin trail to Grasmere, where you can savour the famous gingerbread. Walk back around the other side of Grasmere and Rydal water on the way back to Rydal. You can explore the caves on the way.

Then continue up to the Old Man of Coniston for breath-taking views across the Lake District if the weather is clear! Stop in Coniston for Lakeland ice-cream at the Meadowdore Café after your walk.
Park at the village hall in Water Yeat just a 10-minute drive from the cottage. Walk up the track to Beacon Tarn. Have a swim across the tarn. It's usually warmer than Coniston Water.

The Southern Shores of Coniston Water are just a 10 minute drive from the house. Park at Brown Howe carpark or in one of the laybys next to the lake. Enjoy a walk around the lake, paddle boarding or a swim if you're brave. You can also take a trip across the lake on the old Steam Yacht Gondola.

The 20 minute climb to the top of Gummer's How is worth the effort, as you'll have 360 degree views over Lake Windermere, and Morecombe Bay. There is a free car park situated at the beginning of the walk. We often do the walk on our way back home- just turn left at the roundabout in Newby Bridge.

Gummer's How
The 20 minute climb to the top of Gummer's How is worth the effort, as you'll have 360 degree views over Lake Windermere, and Morecombe Bay. There is a free car park situated at the beginning of the walk. We often do the walk on our way back home- just turn left at the roundabout in Newby Bridge.
