Located in Summer Cove Kinsale at the water’s edge is Charles Fort. A bastion fort one of the largest in the country with one section of the wall built in a star shape. A late 17th century fort designed by William Robinson who was also the architect of the royal Hospital in Kilmainham, Dublin.

The Scilly walk is a beautiful walk along the sea front from Scilly which is across the harbour from the town to Summercove where Charles Fort is.
You get to see spectacular views of the town and harbour on your way.

The old head of Kinsale 5 miles from the town is well worth a visit to view the 200 year old Signal Tower which has recently been restored and is now open to the public as a Lusitania Museum where you can see artefacts from the wreckage of the Lusitania ship which sank off the south coast. There is a bus local link 253 see timetable above from Kinsale during the summer months.
