The building itself stands as a testament to architectural history; premeir twentieth-century firm McKim, Mead and White designed the original structure; Japenese architect Kenzo Tange designed an addition in the 1970s; the most recent addition, which opened in 2006, was designed by Michael Graves. Best of all: admission is always free.
