One of the few coffeehouses in the city you can use as a workspace, where you can buy a $2 coffee, actually find a seat (sometimes have to wait), post up for a few hours and not be hassled. Most of the Think Coffee locations are good for this, there are several in Manhattan.

A must-see during the summer. Incredible gardens. Interesting stone structures built into the side of the granite cliffs that overlook the Hudson River (a beautiful river, despite being caked with PCB's and lead from General Electric).
